....Oh my GOODNESS.....

.....Has it really been a whole week since my last post, that's not very good is it?, i really must try harder, actually this last week has been kinda 'blah', its been a 'blah' week at work, a 'blah' week on the creative front, still feeling 'blah' with the ever lasting cough cough coughing, and all generally just plain 'blah', it goes like that sometimes doesn't it?... anyway, the 'blah' week is over now so Mr Pixie and I started the new week with a trip to London for the day to see an exhibition that i really wanted to see....
....Now.... i know there are people out there that aren't gonna like this, in fact i know people are going to think all sorts of things about me after i tell you who i went to see today, but you see, i am going to admit to the world that i am a supporter of the very controversial 'Tracy Emin',  i really do like her work and the exhibition today was at the Hayward gallery on the southbank which consisted of a  substantial amount of work by her, including drawings, paintings, sculpture, neon signs and some very heart felt diary entries. In this exhibition i felt that Tracy really did wear her heart on her sleeve and was very open about a good many things, some off which i did actually have to hold back tears as some of her stuff was really quite emotional, but also very painful and raw, yet beautiful at the same time, so just bear with me as i show just a tiny amount of artwork that we saw today, these aren't photos i took as you weren't aloud to take pictures so i have got some from the internet of the actual exhibition........i hope you see what i see.....

                                                   'Love is what you want'

....these are all the embroidered blankets that she makes, i wish i could off found a better picture for you to see....

...i loved this little embroidered chair...

....more blankets...

....There...not too many...as you can probably imagine a lot of it was pretty controversial so not very appropriate to show, but a small sample for you to see from today's day out.....

.....Hope your all having a good bank holiday so far and your not all having the 'blahs' like I've just had, see you all soon....Pixie x x

...The crappity crap lurgy attack...

...I have been bed bound for two whole days with a crappity wretched lurgy thingy, two days spent in my pyjamas shivering one minute, sweating buckets the next and cough, cough, cough, coughing my poor lungs up, my joints hurt and i had to phone in sick to work, and i don't like doing that, so yet another weekend lost to bugs, it didn't help when Mr Pixie said i looked like an extra out of  the zombie film '28 days later' due to my lack of colour in my face and  my eyes a bit blood shot from the continuous coughing, i  have only just got over laryngitis now this,.. there.., that's my rant over, it does make you feel better to have a good old whinge now and then doesn't it,...anyhoo, enough of that, i just needed to put it down in writing somewhere.  Although,...in a more positive way with all the sweating, aching and coughing i was able to do some more crochet and to read my book, the only time i ever get to enjoy reading is when i go to bed and then its only about ten minutes and then my eyes start to glaze over and it all goes blurred, so it has been an unexpected luxury.
....So, you have probably noticed that this particular post doesn't have anything creative at all to show you, just a philosophical moan, but then i guess that's how life just is sometimes, its a small reminder of what  we take for granted, that not necessarily everything does go along as predicatively as we expect, every now and then life lobs a rock in your direction and all the things that you do day in and day out gets a bit shook up, and i quite like that sometimes, those little rocks that make you remember to expect the unexpected......xx Pixie

....On and on and on and....

...On....
...its getting bigger, but not getting bigger fast enough, i do sometimes wish my little hands could churn through some of my projects that bit faster, but then one must,.. 'take time to smell the roses',.. so to speak, so here's a couple of up to date piccies of my latest blanket, and also a couple of piccies of the other project that i have been working on along side it.....

...I'm still in two minds about this blanket, sometimes i like it and then sometimes i just don't, the reason i started it was i was flicking through a 'toast' catalogue a couple of years ago and there was a large handmade crochet blanket in it, also made from just four or five colours like mine and it really looked lovely and i wanted to buy it until i noticed the price that was something like £300 pound, so i decided i would make my own based on the same sort of colours and patterning, I'm sure when i have finished it i will be pleased with it, i am just an unbelievably impatient person.......

.....and now the other thing that i am working on, but this time i am in a bit of a squandry with this one.....i have been very merrily crocheting away these lovely little flowers and i have been really enjoying doing them,.... the trouble is.....i haven't the slightest idea of what i am exactly making!?.....
....i really really don't.....
....so....bloggy friends, any suggestions would be much appreciated,....i know it all sounds a bit dippy minded to not even know what i am making, but i have been so engrossed in making these lovely flowers that i hadn't even thought about where i was going with it.....

...lovely, lovely Japanese flowers...

....i have to say, these are really really addictive to make, as you can see,but.....what is it?
...I did think that i would make a shawl, but that just doesn't feel right, and then i thought i would just make yet another blanket, but i don't think i want that either....so you see, i need help....

....HEEEEEELLLLPP...

...A spring trip...

...around my little crafte nook....

....handmade pottery, and crocheted thingys....

....my little back room....

...Mr Pixie found this old clock at an outdoor market, it did tick, but now it just wont, i think it misses the mice....

....my favourite teapot.....i will admit to not making the tea cosy though, as much as i would like to say that i had....

...oh dear, that's a bit blurred isn't it, not sure what happened there, anyway, this is my wee collectors corner......the teddy bear i bought from an antique shop, he's a hundred years old....

....A couple of pictures of the mantle piece in the front room....

....my most beloved arm chair, this chair was my mothers then she gave it to me as i have always been fond of it, its about thirty years old i guess, and last year Mr Pixie and I reupholstered the whole thing as it was really looking sorry for itself, and i have to say that i am so pleased with its transformation, it was a real epic job to do, but i think we did a good job.......the  poor old thing...

....another old favourite chair, this was my mothers also....

....my creative space is no tidier....

....and off course a crochet shot...
....and finally, quite unexpected, two old cats actually wanted to make an appearance....i was quite taken back as the pair of them are very shy.......so here's Bix and Molly....

....so there you have it, a little trip around my little crafte nook, I'm not too sure why i chose to do it, i am generally a very very private person, quite introverted really......i guess i was just ready to bare a little bit more of my soul to you.....

....Pixie....x

P.s....is anybody else having trouble with there blog site, mine seems to be acting very strangley!?

...Hi there friends...

....just a little post today of some more crochet loveliness....i have been crochet obsessed off late, i am really determined to tidy up all the odd bits of half started things and to get them all done and dusted before Autumn starts again.....here's a few photos of what i am working on at the moment,,though, sometimes i am not too sure about it and wish i hadn't started it, and then the next minute I'm thinking ,"no no its fine i do like it".....now I'm not sure again....

....Good old fashioned grannies, you can't beat them can you?...
...I know they look a little bit wonky in places but i think that's because they will need to be blocked when i have finished it as they are a bit puffy in places, (if you know what i mean by puffy!)....
....Anyway, there you have it, more yummy crochet, i will keep you posted with this one....

Cheerio for now, Pixie xxx

...Found....

...or rather, saved...
...An old Gladstone bag found in a retro junk shop looking all very sorry for itself, i saw it out the corner of my eye and my heart did a little skippity skip like it does when a poor lost item wants to come home with me, so i picked it up, gave it a little hug, handed over some pennies, (quite a few pennies actually), and hugged it all the way home.....

....the poor thing is in a bit of a sorry state...

...i think with a bit of pixie magic i can make it all yummy again...

....and finally...a small peek at something else in the making....

....and, if anybody out there has any suggestions on how to achieve more hours in a day, so that one might have enough hours in a day to get all the things that need to get done, actually done, would be much appreciated. Cheerio for now, Pixie xx

...TAH DAHHHHH....

...Open the champagne and hang out the bunting, the 'forever on going blanket' is FINISHED, yaaaaay....
An unimaginable amount of wool used, 218 hexagon's made, countless cups of tea and glasses of wine, a couple of tantrums and possibly the odd shed tear....and it was all worth it....I LOVE IT......
....Now for the sexy photo shoot......

....when it came to doing the edging i really was in a quandary, what type of edging to do that would run round the whole circumference (now there's a word i haven't used since school), that would run smoothly without any puckering, i considered the scallop edge look but i had a feeling that with hexagon's it would all get a bit messy in the corners, so then i had an idea to just go round the whole thing in double crochet twice but then putting a little picot bobble on the corners... and i think it has worked beautifully.....

....and a sexy shot on my monks settle.....

....one more...

....And to think this nearly ended up as a cushion a few times.
...So there you have it...please please please leave me some comments on this one i would LOVE to know what you think, even if your not a crochet fan i would still love to hear from you.
...I'm going to have a glass of wine now and pat myself on the back, and then go and have a look at the other crochet projects that need finishing, i know there's another blanket on the go somewhere...

Bye for now, Pixie xxx
