....Happy birthday Crafte nook......

.....I cant believe its been a year today that i started my little blog, i sat and had a scroll through it this morning at the past twelve months of entries,  and they all felt like i posted them only just recently........where oh where does a year go.......i can remember thinking when i started my blog whether i would be able to fill it with enough stuff,  or even wonder if  anybody would actually be interested in reading it......now here i am, a year on and I'm still here wondering even now if i could possibly manage to fill it again for another year with crafte nook goodies  and to hopefully keep people interested in stopping by for a look.........i think somehow this year i need to think about starting an on line shop......what do you think?....would anybody be interested in buying my funny little makes, what do you all think......i appreciate peoples honest opinions and i would like to hear yours.........i mean would anybody buy my 'slightly wonky dickie birds' for instance, or a knitted fox scarf or even a pair of wonky socks!...............let me know............................oh and speaking of wonky socks.......i finished them........my first knitted pair..................do you wanna see.....................................................

.....there.....they fit perfectly.....my first pair of homemade knitted socks using self patterning yarn........just brilliant.......and i have to say they were not as scary to make as i first thought they would be.......there will definitely be more 'wonky crafte nook' socks to come......though they did take me about three weeks to knit, not a fast project to do, but maybe i will get quicker.......

.......so......here's to ( hopefully) another year of crafte nook makes.......i wonder where my hooks and needles will take me next year.......or who knows, even my sewing machine.........

.......This is going to be my last post now till after the christmas festivities, so i just wanted to say to everybody....Have a wonderful Christmas, and thank you to everyone who has left lovely comments on my blog over the past months and for being such lovely bloggy friends......have a super duper peachy marvelous time and see you probably in about a weeks time.......................................................

.....This Tom and Jerry cartoon used to be on every Christmas eve as a child, and the whole family used to get together to watch it.........happy memories........enjoy. x

 

....The telly has gone bang.....

.....Well isn't that just typical.....one week before Christmas and no telly........i can't miss Dr who, that's the only program that i am most looking forward to seeing, I've always liked a bit of Dr who, i have done since i was a kiddie back in the seventies, only back then i used to hide behind the sofa when the daleks came on or one of those slimy monsters  that came out of the sea...........so a new telly its going to have to be, although without that added distraction that sits in the corner of the living room, it did get us both motivated into finally putting up the Christmas tree and making the crafte nook look a bit more festive.....................................................................

.................There are hand made felt trees filled with lavender that i made donkeys years ago........

.......handmade felt hearts also filled with lavender, this one my son made when he was ten.......

......Dottie angel crocheted popcorn garlands, i made these last year.....

......handmade Santa....

.....some handmade tree bunting.....

.....and some punched tin hearts....(i didn't make these)

....and fairisle knitted hearts....

......Along with the handmade paper chains there are now dozens of paper stars hanging from the beams....

...and the mantle piece over the stove is now fairy lit and festive....(will probably add a few more treats to it next week)....

.....and Molly has her tinsel on.....this strange little pussy cat likes to do this every year, we put a small piece around her and she wanders round the house showing it off, she even has her supper in it and then likes to wear it to bed........

...and the blanket i made is now on the bed for that extra added snuggliness.....

.....so i think i am just about done....( well apart from having to go and buy another telly ) theres just some last minute bits and bobs to do next week, i have three more days of work which includes tomorrow, not looking forward to that much as i have to start at seven thirty in the morning and wont finish till four, then its just Monday and Tuesday and i am done for seven days.....so that's seven days of lay ins....bliss

cut them all up.......................................

......keep glueing until you have masses of paper chains.....then hang them from the ceiling.....................TAH DAAAAAH

.....Time now to fill my glass with another small splash  of chocolate red wine....put the bread in the oven and light the fire and settle in for Sunday evening.......cheers to everyone....hic!

......Its just one of those days.....

........to be making a first attempt at ....socks......

......Mr Pixie has got to work this afternoon so i have the house all to myself.......bliss....

........so its me laying on the sofa with endless mugs of tea and knitting and Bix laying on the rug in front of the stove......

.......i don't think Bix and I will be doing much else today......

.....only one small problem......

.....so Geoffs in charge of crochet hooks.....

......two down, about another six to make......

....now...

.....moving on to the new thingy....

.....I have found some new wool to play with....actually 'billy and Geoff ' are knitted out of it.....

....it is...'Jamesons shetland spindrift' yarn.......quite quite different from what i would usually go for in yarn, but i do like to try out new textures and ideas and i have to say when i first got it and tried it out i absolutely hated it.....very thin, quite fibrousey (not sure if that's a word), breaks easily and generally had me quite annoyed a lot of the time.....but then......all of a sudden......i fell in love with it.....and have been having a good ol' time with it...........so after making gnomes and trying it out for socks and hexipuffs ( see tiny owl knits if your curious about that one)........ i have retrieved my crochet hook from the bottom of my bag and have started on a new blanket with it................

.......i am really enjoying crocheting these squares......it feels good to be making a new blanket again, with a much lighter weighted yarn, plus there are absolutely hundreds of shades...........so i shall keep you up to speed when i can with its progress...........

....Oh yes.....a lovely little pile of crocheted squares........yummy....

......Plus also........thank you everyone for sharing in my deflatedness with the cancelled Julie Arkell workshop........I'm OK now...Mr Pixie and i still got up early yesterday morning and drove up to London anyway for a bit of vintage shopping and people watching at the brilliant 'Spittlefields market', so all was not lost..........shall i show what i bought...............

.....i love bags.......can't ever have enough bags.....yet another passion of mine, but thats a whole differant post for another day, ay...

....Julie Arkell.....

........now i bet that's grabbed your attention, hasn't it.............................................

.........tomorrow is the day that i have been longing for since May, ....the Julie Arkel workshop in London...........since the weekend i have been slowly filling my basket with the essentials that an obsessive crafter like myself  needs to take on such a trip to get her through the day.....


.........................Number one....take receipt and print out email of confirmation...generally one wouldn't do this but being me it would be just my luck to turn up and they have no recollection of who i am.

........................Number two.....take crochet hooks and various knitting needles, just in case.........just in case of what i don't know.......but just in case!

........................Number three.....take a small carton of soya milk for cups of tea as where ever i go i always take my own soya milk as most people look at you blank when you say....."yes' i would love a cup of tea...do you have any soya milk."?......and then you get the look.......so, to avoid 'the look' i take my own milk.

........................Number four.....take various bits of favourite materials and sewing stuff......also, just in case.

........................And number five......my camera.....most very essential.


......................Then......i had a phone call  to say that the workshop was cancelled, as poor Julie Arkell can't make it due to unfortunate family troubles..........the workshop is now in March.

................Of course my thoughts were with Julie and hoped that nothing too awful was wrong with her family.....but i couldn't help feeling rather deflated.....................but these things happen...........so i wont be bringing you all wondrous photos of my day in London after all............it shall have to wait till spring.............................................


........................so instead, for now, i shall show you what i have been up to lately...............

.....he's a bit of a 'billy no mates' at the moment.....but I'm working on it.....

......great fun to make and really quite easy, i have never done wet felting before and now i think i want to felt everything......and i also now have somewhere to keep all my double pointed needles.......well......one set anyway.....for now.

.....I shall be back on Monday to show something else that i have in progress, using some very new yarn.
