...Going all Autumnal....

.........Hello my friends and welcome to the new 'Autumnal' looking Crafte nook, i so adore this time of year, and after our return from woodier places i was all inspired to create.......hence the new painting for my blog header......the painting this time is not from my sketch book it is a full size canvas which now hangs in my front room.......its title is 'the crab apple tree', and it reminds me of the winding down of the year, the slower pace and the approaching silences of winter to come............................so moving on....................

........Before i announce the winners of the 'slightly wonky if not a bit odd dickie bird' give away, i wanted to share one or two photos of where we have been.................so to just give a rather quick random  summery of our route...........we drove to Oxford and stayed for two nights in a very lovely hotel, were we wandered around and took in the city, and explored the Ashmolean museum ( which apparently, so i was told, is the oldest museum in England.....no i didn't know that either), and also took a look at the Bodleian library..........
.......We explored Banbary and Buckinghamshire.......from these places we then headed on to Forest Dean near Gloucestershire and went to see the magical and enchanting 'Puzzlewood'....................here's a couple of photos i took...........

.......i loved it here....all Lord of the ringsey and beautiful.....

.......after this we then headed onto 'Hay on wye' the 'town of books' on the edge of Herefordshire to check into our next hotel............and a wander around Hay, which was just lovely.......really peaceful and all sleepy.................lots of wonderful galleries, art and of course a lot of book shops......

..............the next day we got up nice and early, had a massive breakfast and a huge pot of tea then donned our hiking boots, rucksacks and of course sandwiches and drove into south Wales to the 'Brecon Beacons' for a five hour hike through some pretty 'not for the faint hearted' muddy, wet, slippery and at times dangerous terrain..............I was absolutely 'done in' when we finally got back to the car, i have never been that covered in mud before or nearly drowned while crossing some pretty harsh rapids...........................but the scenery was worth every moment of it...............

......i wanted to come back....pick up my little house.....and plonk it right in the middle of this stunning vast,  wonder of  mother nature.......

.....we had to walk behind this waterfall to get to the other side of the river, if you look closely you can just see a couple of people doing just that...............quite scary at times as it was quite slippery....

......there were at times some pretty steep drops.....so you had to be very vigilant of where you were walking so as to not slip over the edge of the ravine......

....one more....

......i could show you a load more but i think you get the idea.......i don't want to bore you..........but i have to say...............it was enchanting..

...........and now for the 'slightly wonky if not a bit odd Dickie bird' giveaway.........

........i really wish i could give everyone that entered a 'crafte nook birdie', but i only have the two available, so i am truly sorry to the other lovely people that didn't get picked out of the pot........

.....so the winners are.....

......Slightly wonky bird number one (the red one)......is...........

.....Congratulations Leah, just give me an email with your address details and the 'slightly wonky' bird shall be 'winging' its way across an ocean to you.......

.......and the winner of yet another 'slightly wonky knitted thing' is.............

......and well done Kazzy.....also just send me an email with your details and the dickie bird will be on its way......................

..........so commiserations to all the other entries, but i shall definitely be doing another give away very soon......so you never know!
......take care everyone....

  3. Pixie, I just love your new painting/banner! That little fox at the top of the hill looks like it's waiting for you to follow. Your photos are so lush and inviting. Looks like a wonderful getaway. I've just about finished my "fawncho" from tiny owl knits. I still need to work on some top stitching on the little fawn. The whole project hasn't been too difficult.... Just as long as no one can see the reverse side of my intarsia knitting!
