....Hexipuffs....and the bee keepers quilt....

....I have slowed things down this last week,, and taking some time out,,, after finishing my mammoth blanket, i felt i needed to take a small break from crafting for a little while, just a few days to think about new projects, and mull over some new ideas......so whilst i have been meditating on new projects i have been very slowly and peacefully knitting these little chappies, one here and one there, a slow paced little project to sooth the soul..............................................

......These are 'Hexipuffs', from my most favourite knitting site 'Tiny owl knits',, i bought the pattern ( called the bee keepers quilt ) way back in early autumn and i have only really just got round to doing them.........

......These lovely little squishy puffs are knitted on double pointed needles, then stuffed with polyfill, and then Kitchener stitched up....when you have about a million,, you sew them together  to make a thick quilt or in my case i think i shall be making a seat pad for my wooden bench......

......I am using oddments of sock yarn, some gorgeous Koigu and beautifully soft Alpaca and some Shetland yarn........i am then embroidering some little pictures on some, which i am finding really really relaxing to do.....can't think why i have never done embroidery before, its just such a lovely peaceful thing to do......

....Its done.....its finished.......and i love it.............

.....Yes,,,my dear bloggy friends,,the granny square blanket is all finished....and i just love, love, love it......this one only took me three months to do, which is pretty impressive for me, when the last one i made took fifteen months,, but then i did keep taking breaks from it...but not with this one,,*no siree*,,,i crocheted my little pixie self senseless.................so here it is,,,in all its finished glory......sexy photo shoot of multi coloured, multi yummy blanket..............................TAH DAHHHHHHHH..............................

......Oh i do love a pile of handmade loveliness.....

....for the simple scallop edge i did this.....

*Sc in first stitch..dc in second stitch..htr in third and a tr in the third stitch too..then tr in fourth stitch and then do a htr in the same stitch too..dc in fifth stitch..sc in sixth...then repeat from *.

....simples...;)

......The whole thing needs a bit of blocking to tackle those curly edges and there are still a few ends to sew in the back,,,,then allllll done.....yaaaaaaaaay..

.....I think i may have to take a small break from crochet for a bit, as  the last week i have really gone for it to get the blanket finished and now i have sore wrists and aching shoulders.......i think its back to my little knitting needles for a wee respite........

...Anyway,, i shall leave you with the whole stat of the blanket....

......A trip down memory lane......

......I don't quite know how he came up......but my work colleagues and I yesterday were discussing David Essex..........do you remember David Essex.?......i do,,, and yes i was only seven at the time of this particular hit, but its one that when i hear it on the radio all those memories of the early seventies just coming flooding back,,, cheesecloth tops, hotpants, baking hot summers, climbing trees, Dr who and top of the pops, etc..........so to all us seventies kids,,,here's a little of David.......................................hmmmmmmmm.x..........gotta love him.x

.....I have been looking forward to going to the **Selvedge spring fair***,,for weeks,,,to go and see all those marvellously talented crafters and hopefully bring back some goodies and take some piccies for you to see...............................but did i get  there............................( in a very angry voice )..''NO......I .....DIDN'T''....Grrrrrrr


.....Why,, because instead of waking up feeling the joys of spring and raring to go.......i woke up with a bloody migraine from hell................so ended up being stuck in doors all day...AHHHHHHH.

.....So yes....'' Don't you just hate it when that happens''??

............Anyway,,,,that's enough of me ranting,,,,,,,so i shall end this brief post with a couple of pictures of a project that Mr Pixie and I finished of today..........................

.........But firstly, before i show you, i have to say, that generally i don't like to paint over wood.......wood is a beautiful thing, and i think it should just be as it should be...' wood ', but in my little nook, there is a lot of it ,  'wood',,,which is lovely,,, but i felt that maybe giving one piece of furniture a bit of a boost wouldn't be so bad.............................................

......i am very happy with it.......like i say, i love wood, but this has lifted the room a lot and given it a lovely new fresh feel......
