.....Hot.....Hot.....Hot......

....No no, not England.......here......

.....we have just had a most wonderful week, laying in the hot sun, sipping cool drinks, reading and sunbathing in beautiful Santorini......

 

 

....this was a very much needed holiday for us, just the two of us, not doing anything much at all, we went to Santorini six years ago and fell in love with the place then, and new that we both wanted to go back, it really is the most beautiful island, well actually its a volcano.....

 

....this is the bit in the middle that has been active in the past, so its very black this part, you can get a yacht over to take a closer look, the little island behind it has hot springs that you can swim in....

 

....the sunsets in Santorini are breath taking and everybody gathers in the evening to watch it happen and take lots of photos.....though a photo just cant replicate seeing the real thing....

 

 

 

....i took loads of photos....

 

.....This was a really beautiful taverna called Vanilla and we ate there on our last evening...

 

 

 

 

....this is were we stayed, its called 'Meli Meli' and it has to be one of the best places that we have ever stayed at abroad, there was only six small apartments for couples, and a pool, our room was cleaned every day with fresh bedding and clean towels, and also fresh flowers put on our table.....the lovely maid Agnus bought us breakfast each morning at whatever time we wanted it, a definite must for two people who want peace and quiet and solitude.....

 

.....and on our last day when we returned about four in the afternoon, look what we found.....

 

 

....rose petals, all over our bed........oh how romantic......

 

 

 

 

 

.....if you are looking for a quiet romantic break away from it all for two...then Santorini is definitely the place to go......i could show you hundreds of pictures but i think from these you get the drift.....

.....I am on a mission.....

.....I am on a mission this year to make all my (whisper very quietly), 'Christmas presents'.....

 

....now i know your probably thinking 'oh good grief, what is this woman thinking, we haven't even had summer yet'....yes i know this, but i say it to myself each year that passes that i will make all my presents, and then before Ive even put my sun tan lotion away its November again and I've run out of time.......again........but not this year, oh  no.......i started back in April, so this way i can take it nice and slow and not feel pressured to get it all made quickly........(we'll see!)

 

 

......So back in April my first gifty made was a........

 

 

 

 

 

 

......Socky sock monkey.....

....Oh i do love a socky monkey.....and this one has particularly long long legs....

 

 

 

.....good for tieing in knots....

 

....he has patches sewn on, and......

 

 

 

....odd buttons for eyes....

 

 

 

.....i have to say, he was great fun to make, i new those knee high chunky socks would come in useful for something...

.....Hello dear friends.....

 

.....I am so excited that i needed to share this with you all.....

 

.....The most talented Mr Finch , the man who is pretty nifty with a needle and thread and can most certainly use a sewing machine better than i can, has very kindly shared a tutorial with us all in this months Selvedge magazine.....

 

 

.....how do you fancy making your own garden bulbs.....

 

 

...... lets begin....

 

.....Download the template provided.....raid your fabric stash, and away we go.....

 

.....

 

 

 

 

....that's the bulb shape made, now the stork...

 

 

....that was quick....

 

....next bit, stuff the bulb....

 

 

...attach stork...

 

 

 

 

....in the pattern that is given he recommends using some string for the rooty bits, as i don't have string i used some of my beloved Shetland yarn....

 

 

 

....then i wet felted it a bit to give it rooty look...

 

 

....a quick recycle of a teabag (for a bit of authentic staining)...

 

.....and there you have it.....

 

.....all made in less than thirty minutes....

 

 

 

 

.....This copy of selvedge is out now if you fancy a go, i can see me making a load of these and lining them up on my window sill in glass bulb jars....

....Hello hello my little nook friends....

.....Yes i am back now from my little nap....


....And i am not sure where to start, so maybe i shall just creep back to it in little bits.....


.....So for today i shall just start with some chunky socks......

 

....scrumylicious chunky socks....

 

....knitted on two chunky needles, yes  i did say 'two' chunky needles,  and with a little bit of invisible mattress stitch thrown in......

 

....love em, love em, love em....

 

....Mr P got a pair too.....in fact he likes his so much its almost impossible to prize them of his feet for washing........men ay....

 

 

.....These scrummy lovelies are super easy to knit and whats even better they are super fast to knit too...

....There is one thing that i am definitely going to do this year....and that is make all my Christmas presents , ( i love a challenge ),  and these are where i shall begin ( though Mr P has his socks already), i will be knitting a load more for the gents in the family.....
