...I had a birthday.....well an un-birthday.....

....''whats an un-birthday''!...i hear you cry....

....an un-birthday is not the official birthday....

....i changed my birthday a few years ago as i felt that enough was enough and having a birthday a few days after Christmas was just pants.....

....yes ..pants....


....so i changed it....

....to June....a much nicer time of year, a warmer time of year, a time of year that's not near Christmas.....

....a time of year when friends and family don't mind buying you a pressie......and everyone in the family breath a sigh of relief that they dont have to think about my birthday for six months....



.....so what did i get?....

....firstly and most excitedly, Mr P bought me a brand new Yoga mat, a Gaiam yoga mat, a beautiful beautiful extra thick mat......my poor old sticky mat really has seen an awful lot of yoga over the years and has lost all its sticky and was a bit flat in places.....but now.....i have a new one..... though i do feel a bit sad for my old mat......i dont think i could throw it in the bin, but how do you re-cycle a yoga mat!......any suggestions.....anyway....

 

....Mr P also bought me a new Cath Kidston dress....

 

 

....a safari dress...

 

 

....for when i am next out spotting lions, and possibly tigers....

 

 

....the box set of 'Sherlock'....oh my goodness, how i love Sherlock.....i can watch them over and over.........wouldn't it be great to have a friend like Sherlock Holmes?.....well Mr Cumberbatch anyway..mmmmmm..x

 

 

....some smelly smellies...

 

 

....and also some wine, some money, a gift voucher, and a really weird looking plant which i forgot to take a picture off.......i have no idea what it is, and neither does my son as he through the tag away, ....i shall get a picture and post it up soon and hopefully one of you lovely people could tell me what on earth it is......

 

 

 

.....so that was my birthday....the sun shone, and i sat outside and crocheted most of the day.....

......bliss....

 

 

.....and here's a sneaky sneak peek at what i am making.....

 

....hmmmmm,, is that a pair of legs maybe!.....all will be revealed very soon.....

 

 

....Anyhoo,, love and hugs to you all, i hope you are all well, and the sun is hopefully shining too....

.....i am now going back to a glass of wine and to finish the last bits of my little crocheted project.....

....Tales of the Riverbank blanket....

....I have returned from my journey.....

 

....a journey that involved me, and a blanket....

 

 

....a crocheted blanket....

 

....a warm and snuggly blanket....

 

....this blanket is big, a double bed size, a campfire size, a Riverbank picnic size.....

.....there are 157 squares, and 140 cluster bobble swags, umpteen balls of yarn.....

 

 .....a most marvellous collection of home grown yarny goodness.....photos of handmade blankets always make my heart leap with joy....

 

....it even got the Molly seal of approval.....

....a bit more yumminess....

 

....and a question...

 

....why cant i wear buttons as earrings?...

....oh......i can..xxx

...I have been lost for two weeks.....

 

....I have sat almost lost in a meditation of hooking....

 

....i think for a time spiders spun webs in my hair, and mice nested in my pockets as i sat for long periods weaving yarn....

 

....its been me, and the blanket....

 

 

....but now our journey is nearing its final stitches, and the final spells are being woven into it ....

 

....so dear readers please forgive me for my absence, but i was lost, but now i am nearly home..........and i shall be back with a photo gallery of a Riverbank blanket completed.....

....A little story....

....Many many years ago ( im talking about twenty years ago ) a lovely lady used to live in one of the cottages opposite me, her name was Julia....and her and i got on really well,  we shared a lot of the same thoughts and ideas about nature, and spirituality, at the time i was teaching a very small group of people meditation and she used to do Indian head massage, in fact i used to be one of her heads to practise on.....she had an allotment and grew all her own veg and sometimes i would come home and find a bag hanging on my front door with runner beans or rhubarb in it....

 

....then one day i came home and she had put a little book through my door....

 

 

....and it changed my life....

 

 

....not in a great big big way but in a way that reaffirmed all my inner thoughts about the Goddess or mother nature if you prefer....and our connections to all things on this planet....

 

....The book was....

 

....The Earths cycle of celebration... by Glennie Kindred....

 

....so i want to share with you this author and her beautiful little books...

 

...all the art work is her own too...

 

....this book i have treasured all these years, and along the way i have added to it...

....The sacred tree....and Creating celebration i bought from the gift shop at Avebury....

....Avebury is an incredible place too, so eerie and peaceful, you just feel compelled to hug the stones.....well i do, ,but then i hug anything.....x

....Elements of change i bought from 'The Goddess and the Green man in Glastonbury a couple of years ago......oh how i love this shop....go have a look ''Here''...

....and this little Herb book turned up in my Christmas stocking one year....i think that was when i started working in the herbalists.....and i still work there now ten years on....

....Mother nature has the answer....so true....

....The ''Riverbank blanket'' .....

....is oh so nearly finished....

 

....i am so excited that its nearly completed....

 

.....there are just a few more squares to do and then i need to think about the border and what, or how, i want to finish it off....

 

....i absolutely love the feeling of a new finished crocheted blanket, and i cant wait to fling it on our bed and snuggle up under it like wood elves do....

 

....i am already thinking about a new pattern for the next one.....so many inspiring designs on Pinterest....

 

.....I have also treated myself to a lovely new basket for my yarn.....yum yum yum.....xx
